Artist Charles Wilkin lets inspiration find him. He explores idle conversations, music, news headlines, and sound bites on a daily basis, although his best work seems to come from unexpected experiences, coincidences, and déjà vu. Starting off with a rough concept or mood, his process is very spontaneous and instinctual, letting the work itself guide him. This improvisational assembly helps free his mind of any preconceived notions or expectations. Currently Charles splits his time working between studios in Brooklyn, N.Y., and the Catskills.
