“It’s hard to cover for someone who’s disrespectful and ungrateful.”
Yesterday, Blink-182 members Travis Barker and Mark Hoppus announced in a press release that third member Tom DeLonge had "indefinitely" left the group, with Alkaline Trio's Matt Skiba set to fill in for DeLonge at the Musink Festival on Mar. 22.
"We were all set to play this festival and record a new album and Tom kept putting it off without reason," Hoppus and Barker stated. "A week before we were scheduled to go in to the studio [on Jan. 5], we got an email from his manager explaining that he didn't want to participate in any Blink-182 projects indefinitely, but would rather work on his other non-musical endeavors."

But DeLonge challenged the press release in a post to his own Instagram, referring to Hoppus' and Barker's comments as "weird" and arguing that he "never quit the band."
[DeLonge's] actions speak louder than whatever he feels compelled to write on an Instagram post ... We stand by [our press release] 100 percent because it's all true.
DeLonge never technically quit the band, but emails from his manager made it clear he wanted nothing to do with it, according to Hoppus and Barker.
"It's hard to cover for someone who's disrespectful and ungrateful," Barker said. "You don't even have the balls to call your bandmates and tell them you're not going to record or do anything Blink-related. You have your manager do it."
"To then say, 'I didn't quit the band,' it's just not true," Hoppus said, "It's disingenuous. I just wish Tom does whatever makes him happy and stops holding Blink-182 back from what we all agree that we're going to do: play shows, record music, continue this legacy, and have a good time doing it."
