Birmingham Airport Operations Resume Following Evacuation

The terminal at the Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International airport was evacuated Sunday because of a threat.


The evacuation of Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International airport was prompted by a threat received around 4 p.m., the airport said. The terminal was declared secured around 6 p.m. (7 p.m. ET), and operations have since resumed.


The evacuation was prompted because of the discovery of a written bomb threat. Police spokesman Johnny Williams said a sweep was made with dogs and nothing was found in the airport, reported al.com.
