Something has happened to one or both of your parents.
Many (but not all) of the Disney princesses have faced this hardship. Cinderella's father died when she was young. Rapunzel was kidnapped from her parents solely for her hair. If at some point in your adolescence both of your parents weren't in the picture, you may, in fact, be a Disney princess.
