Treasurer Didn't Write Words Attributed To Him On Fundraiser's Website

Mr Hockey is suing Fairfax Media for defamation over a story titled, "Treasurer For Sale", which published allegations about his involvement with a local business group called "The North Sydney Forum".

Fairfax barrister Dr Matthew Collins challenged Mr Hockey's ties to the Forum on day two of the case in the Federal Court and questioning why the treasurer had used several other Fairfax stories in his evidence.

"(Fairfax has run) a relentless campaign... they have not stopped," said Mr Hockey claiming they have damaged his reputation and convinced some people he is corrupt.

He also labelled the stories surrounding the North Sydney Forum a "fishing expedition" from journalists at The Sydney Morning Herald.

Mr Hockey distanced himself from the words on the front page of the website, which had an explicit call to "help build the financial resources to help support Joe into the future".
