ITV has released its first trailer for the fourth season of the hit British period drama, which returns next month (and on Jan. 5 on PBS). What can you expect? Tears, dancing, and lots of emotion, for a start.

Ah, Downton Abbey, we've missed you. Despite the fact that you broke our hearts last year, not once but twice, we're eager to return to your well-appointed rooms for another season of drama, romance, and — more than likely — more heartbreak than is healthy for the average viewer. While the trailer for Season 4 contains very little dialogue — it's set to The Joy Formidable's "Wolf Law" and features but three lines, an exchange between Maggie Smith's formidable Dowager Countess and Michelle Dockery's deep in mourning Lady Mary... and one from Lily James' Lady Rose MacClare, welcoming us to Downton — it's overflowing with evocative teases about what the new season of Downton will bring: so many tears, some beautiful dances, fighting, and so many pointed looks.
Downton Abbey will return to ITV in September and to PBS' Masterpiece Classic on Jan. 5, 2014.
